ESQUIVEL-SOTAMAA DESIGN
“Under Her Wing”
The project is basically an elementary school and junior high programmatically divided in four groups. The concept two topological surfaces, one is a landscape and another one is a wing, under which all kinds of events occur in a theatre of different atmospheres. These are produced by controlling the light filtering through the roof perforations and using color and pattern. An underground section houses all the support programs. At the center of everything there is a vortex that organizes the circulation connecting all the different surface levels. There are two object buildings with classrooms in the middle of the space under the wing, the rest of the program is inside the thickness of the wing.
